Masquerade Ball

So my Vivienne Smith dress from Oxfam never arrived, so I have ordered a new dress I found on ASOS for the same price. It's stunning, and hopefully I'll look stunning in it too! It was only £15 in the sale so no big spend, however my loan did just come in. So I ordered a pair of rather expensive boots in the sale too, view below:

Yo! Sushi

I really love sushi, but places like Yo! Sushi are expensive, and are only ever visited for a snack or a treat, not for a regular meal. I particularly love Tamagoyaki, which is sweet omelette, and I just stumbled upon a really good recipe for making it: justhungry.com/tamagoyaki. I haven't tried it yet, but I'm going to as soon as I get back to Manchester, looking forward to it!

Fashion Marketing

Next week I have my Fashion Marketing exam. Last year's was extremely easy, and just showed me how qualified my lecturer's were to teach a degree. The exam consisted of 50 multiple choice questions and an essay question, all of which we had been given as a mock exam the week earlier, along with the correct answers. It's fair to say that this year's exam is going to be a lot harder, with a lecturer who loves her job (and may obsess a little on what she teaches), it's fair to say that Heather Iwanow is, with out a doubt, the best lecturer we have at MMU.

Anyway, the case study she has given us is a particularly interesting extract from an article published in The Times on 21 May 2010, entitled 'Where to find cheap fashion' available at The Times Online

The article lists some very interesting sales sites, including:
The only problem now is that I will be spending more time looking through these sites than I will be revising!

Vintage Vivien Smith

Recently, I ordered a vintage Vivien Smith evening dress from Oxfam online store, for the masquerade ball I am going to in May for the end of year party. Originally I wasn't really looking for a new dress, I just happened to be looking on the Oxfam site for volunteer work for the summer, and stumbled upon their online vintage store. Most of the clothes were too big for me, sizes 12+ seemed very popular, then I found this dress. It's strapless, with a black velvet corset, and a midnight blue two tiered dress. It's a medium, which is usually too big for me, but the measurements fitted mine, and it was on sale! Reduced from £25 to £12.50, and although I don't have much money at the moment, I managed to spare the £15 (inc p+p) as I completely fell in love with this dress. Three days later I received an email to say it had been dispatched by second class Royal Mail, and should be with me within three working days. However, it has now been five working days since it was dispatched and there is still no sign of it. I have emailed Oxfam and they've said that if it still hasn't arrived tomorrow, they will refund me as it is lost in the mail. But I want this dress to turn up so badly, it is perfect in every way and I don't want it to be lost in the system, especially when Royal Mail are so unreliable. Fingers crossed!

Colour my life with the chaos of trouble

This is my very first blog, and I would like to begin by stating that these are simply my own opinions on the fashion industry, I am not trying to insult or offend anyone with my likes and dislikes, I only hope to give a little bit of inspiration to those of you who read this.

Recently I bought some new Barry M nail varnishes in Raspberry and Mushroom. I just love the colours, neutral Mushroom contrast with the sharp Raspberry. I'm afraid all of my other nail varnishes might dry up because I'm only using these two since they're so nice. Although Barry M isn't the best nail varnish in the world, mainly because it takes so long to dry and smudges easily, but the vast amount of colours available let you look past its problems.
